Secure Computing Corp, the San Jose, California-based security software company, is to extend operability of its SafeWord password authentication technology to personal digital assistants (PDAs). The company has partnered with Microsoft Corp; 3Com subsidiary, Palm Computing Inc; and Sharp Corp to make its software operable with PDAs such as Palm V, Palm III, Sharp Zaurus and devices running Window CE operating system. A spokesperson for the company said SafeWord will be both embedded into new PDA devices and sold separately. SafeWord is available now for Sharp Zaurus in Japan and the company said it expects availability for Palm and Window CE devices in April.
