SEC OPENS ONLINE Y2K DATABASE

By CBR Staff Writer

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has made its database containing year 2000 readiness reports filed by financial firms available online. The web site, www.sec.gov, enables investors to access reports describing companiesÆ state of readiness, costs, risks and contingency plans. The site gives details of broker-dealers, transfer agents, investment advisors and mutual funds. The SEC has recently charged more than thirty brokerage companies with failure to fully disclose their Y2K preparedness levels.
