Seattle-based Aldus Corp says it is now shipping PageMaker 4.0 for Microsoft Windows 3.0 in the US and Canada: it has more than 75 new features, including a built-in word processor, support for long documents, improved text-handling, and professional typographic controls; it includes the capabilities of PageMaker 4.0 for the Macintosh and several new functions requested by Aldus customers with much of the new functionality, including memory management, typographic controls, networking options, and colour capabilities that take specific advantage of the Windows 3.0 environment; it really needs an 80386 box with 2Mb memory and 40Mb disk, but will squeeze onto an 80286 machine with 2Mb; it costs $800 but also includes the $100 Adobe Type Manager as a limited period come-on.
