The company said PlagiatInform is able to identify plagiarism in documents automatically by comparing submitted work to all articles already in a database. Any extracts that are similar to sections in documents within the database are highlighted as possible examples of plagiarism. Applications for the technology include education and academia.
In the latest version, PlagiatInform 1.2, there is an installation wizard to ease set-up, as well as the ability to scan documents for plagiarism in batch mode.
Batch mode allows the user to check a large number of documents for plagiarism concurrently, and the documents being scanned are compared not only with an internal database of papers, but also among themselves.
If the papers scanned are found not to include any likely plagiarism then they can be automatically added to the database of papers, and the server also saves the history of all batch-mode scans.
PlagiatInform is said to feature patented similar-document search technology. The company was founded in 1995.
