Twitter has launched a new feature that will allow users to search and view every public tweet made since the site’s 2006 inception.
Currently, it is not easy to search through the 100 billion tweets made by Twitter’s 284 million users, with users choosing to use third party tools like Topsy to search through the data.
The new feature allows users to browse through tweets using rudimentary keywords, with the company reportedly planning to include more sophisticated searches in the near future.
Users are also able to remove specific tweets using an local file archive that opens in a web browser and is arranged according to months.
The Telegraph reported Twitter engineer Yi Zhuang saying: "Our search engine excelled at surfacing breaking news and events in real time, and our search index infrastructure reflected this strong emphasis on recency.
"But our long-standing goal has been to let people search through every Tweet ever published."
