SEAGATE TO INVEST $70M TO EXPAND PHILIPPINE FACILITY

Seagate Technology Inc, Scotts Valley, California will spend an additional $70m to expand its disk drive recording head assembly facility in the Philippines. Construction of a 350,000 square foot facility in the province of Cebu will begin next quarter, and production should begin in early 1998. The plant will have capacity to put together 80 million head gimbal assemblies a year.
