Seagate Software Inc, business intelligence software provider, said yesterday that it has re-grouped its core software products; Seagate Crystal Reports, Seagate Worksheet, Seagate Holos and Seagate Crystal Info under a new umbrella which it’s calling Enterprise Information Management (EIM) software. Although there will be no actual changes to the individual applications, Scotts Valley, California-based Seagate said the re-grouping was intended to emphasize Seagate’s ability to offer integrated, end- to-end solutions from the desktop to the enterprise. Greg Kerfoot, president of Seagate Software said: Traditional Business Intelligence vendors know that the reality of business is changing, but they haven’t designed their point products to integrate with an infrastructure for sharing information. They continue to make claims of scalability, but they have failed to deliver products that back up their claims. Retrofitting old tools is not a solution. Seagate said the next version of its Crystal Info enterprise reporting and analysis suite would be available at the end of December. The individual applications will still be available as point solutions, the company said, but from hereon in they will be marketed under the EIM banner.
