Scriptics Corp, the new company formed by TCL scripting language author John Ousterhout earlier this year to commercialize the language (CI No 3,344), has released the beta version of TCL Pro, the professional development environment for TCL programmers. TCLPro 1.0 contains a suite of development tools along with new supported releases of Tcl/Tk 8.0.3, and various language extensions. The tools include a debugger, analyzer, compiler and packager, which is designed to make it easier for developers to package, deliver and install Tcl extensions and applications. The software runs on Sun Solaris 2.5, HP/UX 10 (once it becomes available) Windows 95 and NT 4.0 for Intel. The final version will be out in September 1998, costing $1,000 for single users, $1,200 with upgrade options. Scriptics is based in Palo Alto, California.
