The companies will implement two digital single frequency networks serving a population of 5.5 million by the end of 2007. The full terrestrial networks will combine high-power digital TV transmitters, MPEG-4 encoding and multiplexing head ends, and signal distribution networks.

Kvant-Efir will also provide system integration services through a control center. Scopus’ transmission and compression platforms will be deployed at the headend and receiving sites, and will be comprised of IVG-7100 Intelligent Video Gateways, UE-9000 encoders, and IRD-2900 Integrated Receiver Decoders.

Ivan Omelyanyuk, president of RPE Kvant-Efir, said: We were selected as a team together with Scopus because of the advanced capabilities, effectiveness, and reliability our systems have. Together, we deliver a great deal of added value to RTT, as they expand next- generation services through the new DTT network in central regions.
