Scoot.com Plc, the UK-based business directory service, has entered a partnership with LineOne Ltd, the United News & Media and British Telecommunications Plc joint venture, to sell its classified services over the LineOne portal. LineOne is an internet service provider that uses BT as its network provider. Scoot has a number of deals with ISPs, such as Freeserve Plc, News International’s Bun.com and Microsoft Corp’s MSN, to place its Connect service on the portal front page.

Connect is a service introduced by Scoot in May to create a more direct correlation between usage of its directory, which is free to the user, and revenues. Businesses pay Scoot for each customer connected to them directly via a free-phone number. Under the LineOne deal, the ISP will receive a cut of this charge.
