SCO joins the Google zeitgeist

SCO Group Inc's legal claims against IBM Corp and Linux might not have done much for its reputation among the open source community, but it has increased the profile of the Unix vendor in the wider world.

Proof comes from the fact that the Lindon, Utah-based company was the most searched company on Google in 2004, according to Google’s Year-End Zeitgeist. SCO’s number-one ranking put it ahead of healthcare products vendor Johnson & Johnson, and financial services firm ING Group.

It also puts SCO in with some unlikely company, such as George W Bush – the top public figure, David Beckham – the top sports search topic, and Britney Spears – the most popular query overall.
