A former IBM and Oracle Corp marketing executive, Negris joined Lindon, Utah-based SCO as VP of marketing in August 2005 and will now assume responsibility for marketing and sales, as well as overseeing public relations, events, customer support, professional services, and direct and channel sales.

Negris will also oversee the company’s operating units – which include the Unix operating system division, SCOsource intellectual property and legal division and Me Inc digital mobility services business – while president and CEO, Darl McBride, will lead the overall management team and business strategy.

The company characterized the change as positioning the executive team to take advantage of new product and growth opportunities in 2006.

While the company is best-known for its on-going legal battles with IBM, Novell Inc, and others, it has also regained profitability in its shrinking Unix business in recent quarters and in September 2005 launched the Me Inc mobile digital services platform.
