SCIENTIFIC COMPUTER SYSTEMS HAS DELIVERED SCS-40 TO E I DU PONT DE NEMOURS

San Diego-based Scientific Computer Systems Corp says it has delivered an SCS-40, 64-bit near-supercomputer that can execute up to 44Mflops and 18 MIPS, to E I du Pont de Nemours at the US Department of Energy’s Savannah River nuclear complex in Aiken, South Carolina: the SCS-40 system, which starts at UKP595,000 was selected for its Cray compatibility and ability to run large Fortran-source code used in assessing the safety of nuclear reactors.
