SCICON INDUSTRY WINS UKP3.8M CONTRACT FROM EASTERN ELECTRICITY

By CBR Staff Writer

SD-Scicon Plc’s Scicon Industry has won a UKP3.8m contract to design, supply and install a computerised Control Room Operational System for Eastern Electricity which will run on dual DEC VAXes; the new system, which interacts with Eastern Electricity’s telecontrol and telecommunications systems, will replace the network wall diagrams currently used by control engineers, enabling them to display graphically Eastern Electricity’s entire 50,000 mile network and to manage their own control areas; each of the 20 control engineers’ workstations is due to be ready for use by April 1991 and will consist of a small DEC VAX processor and a Megatek high resolution graphics display system.
