The profit is a reversal of last year’s £10.5 million loss, and comes along with a gigantic 766 per cent rise in turnover – which surged to £17.7 million from last years £2 million. SCi believes that it can continue this success into 2003, with a number of key titles already lined up for next year.
Today’s record profit before tax of £2.2 million clearly demonstrates the success of our strategy of investing in high quality licences, brands and developers, commented chief executive Jane Cavanagh. Next year’s key titles, according to the publisher, will be The Great Escape on PS2, Xbox and PC (with a Cube version due in the 2004 financial year), TV license Futurama on PS2, Xbox and Cube, and Conflict: Desert Sabre on PS2, GC, Xbox and PC.
The continuation of the Conflict: Desert Storm franchise is a key strategy for SCi, with another Conflict title (Conflict: Missing Presumed Dead) also in the works and a long-term agreement with developer Pivotal Games signed. A US publishing agreement with Take 2 covering the next Conflict title, as well as The Great Escape, has already been signed, and Conflict Desert Storm will be appearing on the PS2 Platinum range.
