400 middle school students were surveyed, with their grades compared to the amount of time they spent playing computer games and watching TV.

The study found that the more time children spent on weekday gaming and watching TV, the worse they did academically.

However, weekend viewing had little or no affect on academic performance, as long as it was restricted to no more than four hours a day.

The American Academy of Pediatrics currently recommends that parents should monitor video game playing, and ensure that children watch no more than two hours of ‘quality’ programming a day.
