Schlumberger Ltd, the Paris and New York-based oil services company in process of liquidating its portfolio of technology companies, has now sized up its graphics division – mainly the Benson SA plotter business – and decided to seek bids for the unit. It says the division did $135m last year, has French bases in Creteil and Guerande, and a US base in Mountain View, employing 850 people all told. The business is profitable, but no indication of the asking price has been provided.
