Under the re-organisation at Sun Microsystems Computer Co, Janpieter Scheerder, formerly president Ed Zander’s Solaris products group henchman at SunSoft Inc – the two also worked together at Data General Corp – will be responsible for all server products as vice-president and general manager of a new network server and information products group. A desktop-workstation group is being run by vice-president and general manager Gene Banman, formerly president of Nippon Sun Microsystems KK in Japan. Anne Schowe continues as vice-president and general manager of an interactive services and products group responsible for Sun’s video architecture, electronic commerce solutions and set-top alliance with Thomson Multimedia SA. The company is still looking for someone to run a networking and network attached devices group, responsible for the Netra line, local area network servers and network boards. Other changes see former vice-president, strategy and business development Mark Tolliver, get the new role of vice-president, application marketing and independent software vendor capture. Anil Gadre, formerly vice-president, North American field marketing, becomes vice-president corporate marketing, directing all campaigns, advertising and public relations, as well as competitive research, business and product strategy and pricing. Masood Jabbar continues as chief financial officer and gets new responsibility for planning processes, corporate development and activities. John Shoemaker continues to oversee global operations, including manufacturing – he’s got the SunPics printer business as well now. Raj Parekh gets the chief technology officer, vice-president engineering role at the company, with responsibility for consistent product strategies across all business units, Sparc technology requirements and advanced technology development. Janice Fry will continue as vice-president, human resources and Leon Williams continues as vice president in charge of information resources for the field organisation.
