Specialist Computer Centres Ltd, the Birmingham-based micro dealer chain that bought the Byte Shop in 1986 (CI No 497), has won back the contract to supply its local City council with micros and associated products: SCC lost the contract last year in a competitive tender, but its replacement went out of business before completing its 12-month agreement; SCC says this time it beat off 18 rivals to win the rights to supply ?2m worth of Apricot Computers Plc Xen-is, IBM Personal System/2 model 60s, consultancy and training over two years.
