The new integration is expected to enable Mountain Medical Technologies’ (MMT) physicians to dictate patient notes, e-mail referral letters and perform other transcription-dependent tasks directly into the Cyramed system.
MMT hopes that this deployment will eliminate the need for time-intensive transcription services, and lower administrative costs and turnaround time for critical medical records.
Dragon NaturallySpeaking Medical 8 has built-in understanding for more than 300,000 words, and includes 14 pre-made specialty vocabularies, including General Medicine, Pathology, Radiology, Cardiology and Surgery disciplines. Healthcare organizations are also able to add their own words to the solution to create fully customized vocabularies. Care providers can take advantage of voice-activated shortcuts, allowing a single word or phrase to automatically populate fields within the Cyramed solution.
The Cyramed electronic medical records (EMR) system already benefits from a user interface that mimics how physicians work with paper electronically, so speech recognition is a natural progression, said Martin Bailey, vice president of marketing, Mountain Medical Technologies. With Cyramed also running on the Microsoft Tablet PC platform, it almost becomes another member of the staff – taking dictation and providing information wherever it is needed.
