SBC RULING HAS IMPLICATIONS FOR LOCAL PHONE COMPANIES

Local telephone companies in the US will find it increasingly hard to operate long distance services after the Justice Department ruled SBC Communications Corp could not operate such a service in Oklahoma. SBC is said to have too much of a monopoly- type hold on existing local business.
