Software house Sapiens International Corp has built upon its repositioning in the high-value end of application providing, and has won a contract worth $1.5m from consumer electronics company, Panasonic Ltd.
Rehovot, Israel-based Sapiens will build a logistics system for the European operations of Panasonic, a subsidiary of Japanese consumer leviathan, Matsushita Electric Co Ltd. The system will be implemented in three phases, completed respectively in May, September and January 2000. Panasonic will be able to track products from order to delivery, with customs clearance for international ordering also included.
The Israel-based company has introduced several new lines in the last two years in an attempt to move towards offering a complete package to companies it might have sold tools to before. The firm’s turnkey solutions now include a Year 2000 application, which was the top revenue provider last year, accounting for 44% of the total sales. Hanover says that the company’s 59% growth in revenue last year, $44.5m to $70.9m, is clearly the success of the solutions.
Sapiens also has conversion software for the euro, which Hanover expects to be the flagship product this year, and it is moving towards e-commerce. The company will offer an application in enterprise application integration, a natural extension of our abilities says Hanover and is expected to be introduced in the fourth quarter.
Sapiens’ recent contracts include deals with Australian coach company Greyhound Pioneer to put its reservation system online, and with the department of transportation in North Carolina, US.
