Manufacturing software giant SAP AG’s going to start aggressively targeting the supply chain software market currently dominated by the likes of rival PeopleSoft Inc plus other smaller players with an initiative called SCOPE supply chain optimization, planning, and execution. The company says it will add new supply chain functions to its R/3 application suite, including an SAP Advanced Planner and Optimizer which uses a Supply Chain Cockpit front end to application which enables R/3 administrators resolve problems in its existing forecasting and scheduling tools. A set of APIs will enable third party supply chain products to plug into R/3.
