SAP OPENS UP JOINT TECHNOLOGY DEAL WITH SUPPLY CHAIN FIRM I2

By CBR Staff Writer

SAP AG has re-structured its existing joint development agreement with Irvine, Texas-based supply chain management software house i2 Technology Inc, and will now integrate i2’s Rhythm constraints-based planning software into SAP R/3 using industry standard open interfaces, rather than the proprietary interfaces originally envisaged. The original deal was signed in April 1996 (CI No 2,896), and called for SAP to have exclusive distribution rights. The re-structured deal will enable i2 to integrate the software with other developers of enterprise resource planning software. The new technology with be available to joint SAP and i2 customers with R/3 version 4.0A, expected by year-end, with general availability planned for mid- 1998.
