SAP AG says it has made a substantial investment for a minority equity position in ABC Technologies Inc, the Beaverton, Oregon-based developer of financial management software. ABC’s flagship product is Oros, a set of activities-based costing tools that can track activity information. The two have entered into a joint development and marketing agreement and plan to integrate SAP’s existing activity-based costing component with Oros, to provide prototyping capabilities within R/3. ABC, a nine year-old company, has over 6,100 software installations. SAP competitors such as Oracle Corp and Peoplesoft Inc also have plans to introduce activites-based costing modules to their products.
