SAP unveils safety management application to manage operational risk

SAP EHS Management features new risk assessment capabilities that will help asset-intensive industries manage operational risk

By CBR Staff Writer

SAP has released the new version of its Environment, Health, and Safety Management (SAP EHS Management) application, which helps manufacturers create preventative safety culture inside organisation.

The new version is optimised for companies in asset-intensive industries and its new risk assessment capabilities will help companies take proactive steps to avoid costly, dangerous incidents and keep operations up and running.

The new version of its sustainability application has been upgraded with a mobile app, available on iTunes, to enable employees report safety issues with their mobile devices.

SAP EHS Safety Issue mobile app also helps provides a 360-degree view of potential risks. Workers can now log issues from their mobile device via voice, video or photograph, and send them directly to a safety manager for corrective action.

The German firm has collaborated several with high-risk industries to create a preventative EHS risk assessment approach that helps them to identify, track, analyse and reduce risks and incidents across their entire organisation.

EHS Management is integrated with SAP Business Suite software for asset and human capital management to achieve risk oversight across disparate business processes.

SAP has a three-step vision for operational risk management, which will help customers protect people, assets and the environment while safeguarding their bottom line.

The first step is enabling organisations to report incidents and gain a company-wide picture of that information.

The second step includes an effective operational risk management strategy that is helping companies to analyse risks and determine appropriate mitigation steps.

Third, companies must be able to manage change as they put those mitigation steps into place.
