SAP reports 16% growth in Q3 revenue

The company's profit declined to €618m for the quarter

German enterprise application software provider SAP has reported 16% growth in the third quarter revenue in 2012 to €3.95bn, compared to €3.4bn in the same quarter previous year.

The company’s profit declined to €618m for the third quarter, down from €1.25bn for the same period last year.

Operating profit declined to €921m for the quarter, compared to €1.76bn for the same period in the corresponding year.

Software and software-related service revenue increased 19% to €3.19bn, with a 17% growth in software revenues to €1bn and a 16% increase in support revenues to €2.1bn.

Total revenue rose by 29% in the Americas to €1.57bn while Middle East and Africa revenues were €1.71bn and the revenue grew by 26% to €661m in Asia Pacific and Japan.

Recently, SAP had acquired Ariba, a cloud-based business commerce network, for $4.3bn in a bid to expands its cloud based applications.

The company said that the third quarter profit after tax and EPS were negatively impacted by a €64m or €0.05 per share expense related to the currency hedging of the purchase price for the recently closed Ariba acquisition.
