SAP UG calls for future innovations to be ‘commercially attractive’ for current users

User group chairman speaks at annual conference in Birmingham.

By Joe Curtis

SAP must make new products around mobile apps, cloud and data easy to implement and commercially attractive, the chairman of its UK and Ireland user group has urged.

Philip Adams addressed delegates from across Britain gathered at the UK & Ireland user group’s annual conference this week at the ICC in Birmingham.

The chairman said the UG was helping drive the direction of SAP’s new innovations because of the ERP firm’s improved commitment to its current customers, but he urged the software giant to make it simple for customers to adapt to future products.

He said: "We want to work with SAP to drive benefits from these innovations and acquisitions. We would like to see it become commercially attractive to move to these innovations."

Adams added that UG members are most concerned about how SAP’s future solutions could impact on their companies and how easily they could be adopted.

"That acceleration of innovation is at the core of what we want to know," he said. "Are there risks? Do we need to optimise our current processes and solutions before we upgrade?"

The user group is currently comprised of 600 organisations using SAP, and Adams called on the firm to encourage more of its 9, 000 UK and Ireland customers to join the group.
