The Santa Cruz Operation Inc and Novell Inc have joined forces to develop interfaces between NetWare and SCO Unix System V and Open Desktop so that users in either environment can share data and resources. As a first step, Santa Cruz has licensed NetWare’s IPX/SPX transport protocol and will add it to its own environments by mid-year. The effort will enable NetWare users at MS-DOS and OS/2 machines to gain direct access to the 3,000-plus character-based Unix applications and databases supported by Santa Cruz Unix, and Santa Cruz desktop Unix systems will be usable as NetWare clients.
