Scientific Microsystems has signed the Santa Cruz Operation to produce a version of SCO Xenix System V specifically configured to support Sci Mi’s OMTI 8620 high performance ESDI disk controller. The packaged SCO Xenix will be available directly from Santa Cruz and will provide Xenix functionality with the much better disk performance possible by using disks with the ESDI interface in Personals. Sci Mi reckons that Xenix will really motor in load and high-capacity situations with high-performance drives connected through the OMTI controller. The packaged SCO Xenix 286 and SCO Xenix 386 will both be available in the third quarter of the year.
