Santa Cruz Operation Inc and the Paris-based microkernel house Chorus Systemes SA are planning to come together in a few weeks time and take their technical marketing agreement forward into a full blown long-term relationship. As well as bringing Santa Cruz into the real-time operating system business via a joint marketing effort planned for the Chorus/Fusion Santa Cruz Unix-derived microkernel (CI No 2,480), the two are expected to work on adding Everest functionality to Chorus/Fusion. Everest is the upcoming version of Santa Cruz Unix and is due in May or June: it will feature new levels of reliability and availability, and improved network and Windows management, among other things. The notion is to build on Santa Cruz’s commercial Unix-on-iAPX-86 stronghold with Chorus technology. Chorus will also finally put a name to its large telecommunications company win next week.
