Sanga International Inc, a privately-held company that has been developing Java applications components for a few years now, has got together with its long-time partner CSX Corp, the transportation giant to offer one of CSX’s products, which is a supply-chain product, and re-develop it across other vertical markets, based on Sanga’ s Java components. Last week the two companies announced that Sanga had signed a contract with CSX’s CSX Technology subsidiary to extend its TWS Net Premium application. A week later and that deal has evolved into a joint venture. Details of the structure of the venture were not forthcoming from either party, but CSX Technology VP technology Marshall Gibbs said it was very much joint and Sanga’s president and COO Shaun Maine said the development work was also joint. The two have signed a letter of intent but expect to complete the deal within a few weeks. Gibbs said the eventual software could be used by any corporation that has suppliers, so that all parties can work in real-time from the same information. Sanga’s component infrastructure is a set of Java components for things like database access, network administration, users administration and so on. Gibbs said CSX had already resold the basic product, which includes six million lines of Java, to two foreign railroad companies. But now the pair hope to extend it across other verticals.
