Samsung Electronics Inc, the US subsidiary of the Korean electronics company, has appointed a new president, H.J. Kim to replace Y.B. Rha, who has been recalled to South Korea, according to published reports. Kim has most recently run the European Sales and Marketing arm of the company, Samsung Electronics Co Ltd. Rha has been US president since 1994 but will now run Samsung’s worldwide sales operations from Korea. Samsung said that the moves were part of a scheduled reshuffle and not a response to the semiconductor crisis that is currently hitting all the East Asian electronics companies.
