Swedish newspaper Dagen Industri reported that Samsung’s market share had increased to 7.5% in 2001, compared with 5% in 2000. Sony Ericsson’s market share was slightly lower at 7.3%.

Nokia has increased its lead as the world’s largest mobile phone maker. The Finnish company captured 35.6% of the market, an increase of 5% from the previous year. The US’ Motorola remained in second place.
