Samsung Electronics America, a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics , has released its Lapfit monitors, LD220G & LD190N, for use as a secondary display for notebook PCs. Lapfit offers notebook users the benefits of having dual displays to view multiple websites, documents, tool palettes and widgets.

The company said that Lapfit enables multiple applications to run simultaneously or display movies and games in 16:9 widescreen high definition format and 1080p (LD220G) picture quality. It also maintains 100% image integrity and eliminates distortion using its intelligent image size function to accommodate normal and widescreen content.

According to Samsung America, the LD190N installs with a standard VGA cable and the LD220G has the added benefit of USB connectivity with Samsung’s UbiSync technology, which allows users to plug-in and manage multiple monitors without using additional video cards or changing system settings. The LD220G also serves as a USB hub to attach additional UbiSync monitors or peripherals.

The features of LD190N & LD220G includes a resolution of 1360 x 768 for LD190N and 1920×1080 for LD220G; brightness of 250 cd/m2; dynamic contrast ratio of 20,000:1; an aspect ratio of 16:9; response time of 5ms; and includes UbiSync technology for connectivity via USB for LD220G.

Doug Albregts, vice president of IT division at Samsung Electronics America, said: “With the strong growth in the laptop and netbook categories, our Lapfit monitors offer a great synergy for users needing multiple screens. Lapfit enables users to be more productive by eliminating the awkward external monitor configuration that comes with pairing standard LCD monitors with a notebook.”

The new monitors are available through Samsung resellers and retailers at an estimated street price of $249.99 and $149.99.
