Facebook’s Oculus and Samsung have unveiled a new $99 Gear VR which is expected to hit stores just in time for Black Friday in the US.

The new affordable virtual reality headset will be compatible with the Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 edge+, S6 and S6 edge.

The Samsung Gear VR is 22% lighter than the previous Gear VR Innovator Edition, and it also includes new foam cushion that is designed to make the device more comfortable to wear.

At 310g the device includes an accelerator, gyrometer, and proximity sensors, all designed to provide a 96 degree ‘Field of View’.

The headset maker has made improvements to the Gear VR’s touchpad, which will now provide greater control with new options in film, gaming, 360 degree video and experiential content available for Gear VR.

The company is partnering with streaming service provider Netflix, Hulu, Vimeo and Twitch, among others, to roll out video content and live streaming to virtual reality over the next few months.

Oculus is also working with movie studios to buy and rent films to make the experience even better.

Oculus is also collaborating with publishers such as Sega, Midway Games and Bandai Namco Entertainment to bring games like to virtual reality.
