Samsung introduces new ARM-based Chromebook

The new XE303C12 model Chromebook is powered by Google Chrome OS

Samsung Electronics in collaboration with Google has launched its new Chromebook, which is powered by Google Chrome OS.

The new Chromebook comes equipped with Samsung Exynos 5250 ARM chipset, 2GB of RAM , 16GB SSD and boots up in less than 10 seconds.

It features a 11.6-inches display screen with resolution of 1366×768, measures 0.8 inches thick, weighs 2.5 pounds and claimed to offer a battery life of 6.3 hours in a single charge.

The new XE303C12 model Chromebook includes a hardware-accelerated user interface that delivers a smooth scrolling on the trackpad.

With the new Chromebook, users can get online in seconds, load web pages faster and access the favorite apps in one click through the app launcher.

The security features will come be in-built and updated to defend against the ongoing threat of malware and viruses, reducing the need for users to install anti-virus software.

Other features include 1 USB 3.0, 1 USB 2.0, secure digital memory slot, HDMI Port, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi, and full-size Chrome keyboard.

In addition, the new Chromebook comes with a built-in cloud storage with Google Drive, which enables the users to access their files securely from anywhere, while the sync technology backs up all user preferences, bookmarks and apps.

The new Chromebook is available on Amazon and several other retail chains to pre-order now and priced at $249 in the US and $369 for the residents of UK.

Samsung Enterprise Business Division Product Marketing vice president Todd Bouman said: "We’ve closely collaborated with Google to further enhance the experience by adding Samsung’s powerful computing components, thinner design and a beautiful HD screen."
