Samsung expected to release Galaxy Grand smartphone-tablet hybrid in December

The new hybrid will be powered by a quad-core Samsung 1.4Ghz quad-core Exynos 4412 mobile processor and Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean operating system

South Korean electronics firm Samsung is working on its new Galaxy Grand smartphone-tablet hybrid aimed at budget-conscious users and said to have cleared by the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

Featuring a 5.5 in 800×480 pixel resolution display, the new hybrid will be powered by a quad-core Samsung 1.4Ghz quad-core Exynos 4412 mobile processor and Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean operating system.

The new device, which is similar to appears similar to Galaxy SIII, is also expected to feature a 2100mAh battery and offer LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi connectivity as well as supports Near Field Communication (NFC), according to a report from Tech Kiddy.

The electronics firm also revealed that its sales of Galaxy Note II have reached 5 million within two months since the beginning of its shipping, while sales of Galaxy SIII smartphone reached 30 million in five months following its launch.

Samsung is also projecting that the Galaxy Note II will raise around 20 million sales, which if sold at the current rate would surpass the record created by Galaxy note of 10 million units sold within 9 months.

During the third quarter of 2012, Samsung’s Galaxy S3 has cracked Apple’s iPhone 4S to take the smartphone crown, amidst raging smartphone war between Samsung and Apple.
