The long-long running patent dispute between Apple and Samsung has been settled.

Samsung has agreed to pay Apple $548m (£362m) as part of the deal, although a US court will decide next year if Apple deserves more damages.

This payment comes as part of a larger $1bn damages award that Apple was granted in 2012, although this was reduced on appeal to $930m.

The complexity continued when this was then split into two parts, with $548m for technology patents and $382m regarding allegations that Samsung coped Apple‘s packaging.

Although Samsung has agreed to pay the $548, it is reserving the right to get its money back if there were any further developments in the case.

The South Korean company will pay Apple within 10 days of the company’s invoice to Samsung.
