SAINSBURY’s SAVACENTRE HYPERMARKETS SHOP AT NIXDORF SPENDING UKP3.5m

By CBR Staff Writer

Nixdorf Computer Ltd has won a UKP3.5m contract to install its Nistor-S point of sale scanning system in the Sainsbury-owned Savacentre hypermarkets. 8812 or POS 2000 terminals will be used at up to 70 checkouts at each of the company’s seven stores. The terminals are to be linked to a network of 8862 store controllers linked to Sainsbury’s data processing centre in Stevenage for price and product updates on 75,000 product lines. Nixdorf’s Nistor-S software is to be tailored to meet Savacentre’s scanning procedures, and it includes a front-end scanning system with store management, cash handling, reporting, and network management services.
