It has three one-year option periods which, if exercised, bring the total estimated value of the contract to $20.4 million. The work under the base period of the contract is expected to be completed by August 2007.

Jim Cuff, SAIC SVP commented, the team is committed to continuing the support for combat operations for US forces throughout the Middle East, humanitarian relief operations such as Hurricane Katrina, shipboard deployment operations, and training to prepare units to execute their mission.

For the past six years, SAIC has worked closely with both the US Navy and Marine Corps to improve the retrograde pipeline. SAIC says it has developed retrograde solutions to problems caused by mishandling of material, loss of retrograde during shipment, receipt of wrong materials, and material packaged improperly to the point that damage during shipment rendered the retrograde material beyond economical repair.

We are delighted to be able to help NAVICP serve the US Navy by providing highly skilled professional logisticians focused on training and mentoring sailors, marines, and civil service employees located throughout the world, said Jim Cuff.
