Sabah State Government Signs Agreement With Telekom Malaysia

(COMPANY PRESS RELEASE) More State Governments are opting for Telekom Malaysia's "bulk" payment system for telephone bills. The Sabah State Government signed an agreement with Telekom Malaysia for the provision of this service.

By CBR Staff Writer

YBhg. Datuk Haji S. Abdillah Hassan, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Sabah signed on behalf of Sabah State Government while Telekom Malaysia was represented by Dato’ Haji Abdul Halim Hussain, Senior Vice President, Consumer & Business, Telekom Malaysia.

The bulk payment system has been implemented in almost all Government Departments at the Federal level. We are now extending the scope to State Governments as well, said Dato’ Haji Abdul Halim.

This mode of payment is advantageous to both Telekom Malaysia and the State Government as payment will be made more efficient, he added.

For big organisations such as State Governments which have many telephone number accounts and different dated bills, the payment of bills will be less complicated.

With the new system, all billing and payment details are processed electronically. Hence, reducing the need for manual inputs and speeding up the updating of accounting records while ensuring accuracy.

The system also ensures that bills are paid promptly every month. The services covered under this mode of payment include telephone service, telefax, Datel and ATUR.

Telekom Malaysia is now in the process of implementing the system in all State Governments. The Terengganu State Government is the pioneer in using this system, since October 1998. To date, Perak, Kedah, Johor and Sarawak State Governments as well as University Kebangsaan Malaysia are using this system.
