Your correspondent has endured aerialists for Acer and tap dancers for SAP, and is pretty much immune to the more extreme manifestations of corporate theater. That’s all the more reason to congratulate RSA Data Security, who got it right for once. The graphic design for the company’s annual conference, centered around a Viking stone covered in runes, was cool enough, but having a soprano sing Wagner at the keynote was inspired. Then a gospel choir came on and sang a doctored version of U2’s Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For, describing the singer’s struggle with security software and export regulations, to the audience’s appreciative chuckles. The chuckles died down soon enough, but it wasn’t a bad way to kick off Martin Luther King Day.
