The addition of RSA BSAFE technology to the General Services Administration (GSA) Schedule, set up to protect the services of federal government agencies, is expected to provide federal agencies with secure access to enterprise grade e-security software that protects confidential data and manages the identities of people and applications accessing this information.

The platform also helps government organizations meet the Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) regulation, a critical IT security regulation impacting the public sector, which is required before any cryptographic product can be used by US federal departments or agencies.

As more government agencies move critical processes and procedures to the web to reduce costs and improve efficiency, these organizations need access to a full suite of GSA-approved solutions to secure critical information stored online, said Rick Welch, vice president, developer solutions and professional services, at RSA Security.

RSA Security said its RSA BSAFE e-security tools are designed to help organizations save time and risk in their development schedules by allowing them to build encryption and digital signing technology into business applications such as web browsers and wireless devices.
