Is there going to be one more sucker’s rally before Wall Street accepts that it must face up to the fact that it is in a draining bear market? Could well be, but one man in no doubt that the US economy is in deep trouble is the eminently quotable founder of Electronic Data Systems Ross Perot, who last week assumed the mantle of cracker barrel philosopher and in his best Texas hayseed accent declared on BBC Radio Four’s Financial World Tonight The Japanese keep sending us money: now you and I can be totally broke, but if our dad keeps giving us money, we can live like kings – if our dad quits giving us money, we’re street folks overnight.
