The ministry disclosed that four licenses would be awarded, each with a lifetime of 15 years. Each license is to be sold at a fixed price of $35 million and will be given to the most suitable candidates.
The ministry does not want to encourage the use of the slower CDMA2000 networks that are currently in use in the US and Korea. The Romanian 3G networks would operate over 1900-1980Mhz and 2110-2170Mhz radio spectrum.
