ROLM SELLS ITS TWO MILLIONTH DIGITAL TELEPHONE

By CBR Staff Writer

Slow day, Monday: IBM put up an announcement on the Busnesswire electronic press release service saying that its Rolm Corp unit had sold its two millionth digital telephone, and leaped back a little later with an instruction to kill the story, IBM would be making another announcement the following day; the story duly returned on Tuesday, and we can only admire the company’s honesty in holding it up until the counter had actually clicked over from 1,999,999 to the magic figure of 2,000,000 before it confirmed the announcement.
