Rogers Cablesystems Ltd, Toronto has launched its technical trial of its CableLink-Work computer link between corporate offices and employees working from home: CableLink will provide a range of fully interactive capabilities such as graphics, animation, and multimedia applications and technical trials will be conducted in Newmarket, Ontario from January to July 1995, and Rogers Cablesystems will be working with IBM Canada Ltd – IBM Corp being a pioneer of the floating desk concept to encourage people to get out on the road and make them feel insecure in an office where they have no defined territory of their own; IBM Canada operates a mobile work programme called Flexi-place and 20 IBM Flexi-place employees in the Newmarket area are to be involved in the Rogers trial.
