RODIME TO CUT 100 JOBS IN SCOTLAND AS LOSSES GROW

By CBR Staff Writer

Hit by the fact that Apple Computer has brought in MiniScribe as a big alternate source for the 20Mb SCSI Winchesters it previously bought only from Rodime Plc, the Scottish company says that it is having to cut up to 100 permanent jobs at its factory in Glenrothes, Fife as part of an acceleration of the transfer of production to Singapore. It also says it will make a significant loss – US analysts say up to $10m – for its third quarter to June 30 on sales of $25.6m, against $36m last quarter; it did $15.3m a year ago.
