Newport Beach, California-based Rockwell Semiconductor Systems has introduced what it claims is the first single-package 14.4Kbps modem chip family with integrated speakerphone, data, facsimile, telephone answering machine capabilities. The F-Class family includes V.42/MNP 2-4 error correction and V.42bis/MNP 5 data compression in the chip set, and optionally features the Radish VoiceView protocol, enabling both speech and data to travel over the same phone line. The first product, the RC144ACF/SP, is available now, priced at $39.50 in 10,000-up quantities.
